Welcome to Department of Sound’s Valley Producer Program! This comprehensive, self-paced, free online course is designed to help you develop all the basic skills you’ll need to produce your very own music and podcasts from anywhere in the world with any internet-enabled device.
Based on the digital audio workshop Soundtrap by Spotify, our Valley Producer Program provides you with step-by-step instructor-led video lessons that guide you through the essentials of producing your own audio content. Our Level 100 curriculum covers everything you need to get started, from the basics of creating a track right through finalizing your song or podcast, from beat making, composition, and instrumentation to an insider look at the music and entertainment industry.
If you’ve ever wanted to use your voice to speak your mind, our Valley Producer Program is here to provide you with concrete skills and boost your signal.
Available to anyone 13 years of age or older, in English and with Spanish subtitles.

Join one of our instructors during our Valley Producer Program Studio Sessions to ask your production questions and review your projects. Sessions will be held every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month from 5 PM - 6 PM PST.
